SILICON
THE BREAKDOWN The earth's outer crust is filled with Silicon. It is found in the human bones, cartilage, tendons, hair, skin and blood vessels.

IN THE BODY
Silicon helps the growth of bones and cartilage in the human body. It provides power to all connective tissues, and helps to maintain certain flexibility within the cell walls.

WITHDRAWALS
Without the proper amount of Silicon, humans will experience a lack of growth in the bones, mainly in the arms, legs and head. Atherosclerotic lesions may also develop because Silicon plays a vital role in the strengthening of the artery walls. There is a chance, although not a great one, that it also has a hand in cardiovascular disease.

NATURAL FORMS
All foods generally contain Silicon. Some of these are oats, wheat, rice, cucumbers, lettuce, strawberries and avocados. However, natural Silicon is often lost during the processing stage of food.

DAILY DOSE
20 - 50 mg's of Silicon a day should suffice, with a lower intake for non-vegetarian diets.

SUPPLEMENTS
Silicic acid and Metacilicate are different forms of supplements of this nature.
