I'm a 27 year-old male. Recently I received oral sex from a woman, but had two condoms on at the time. A week after that encounter, I was manually masturbated by another woman. Afterwards, I exhibited symptoms of Heptatitis B, and subsequently tested positive for it (thought I was weakly reactive). Except for diarrhea, the Hep B symptoms have died down. My liver enzyme levels have dropped off pretty sharply after the diagnosis, and I'm afraid that might be because I also contracted HIV during one of my encounters. Do you think I might have been exposed, even though I was protected?

Also, do you think it's likely that I'd get a false positive from an HIV test, on account of having the Hepatitis?

Any replies would be highly appreciated.

No, based on the information you've given I don't think you have been infected with HIV, and I don't think there is any greater likelihood of HIV false-positive test because of a positive test for Hep B. But do abstain from sex, or at least keep practicing safe sex, until your status is clarified and you are clinically recovered.

It is impossible to say if you have HIV without the test. Nevertheless, having gotten one virus transmitted through blood means that you should get tested, as it is possible to also transmit other viruses or pathogens. A false positive chance is extremely, extremely low.

I am unclear how you contracted Hep B. I don't think it was because of these recent contacts. HIV can be present without any symptoms, so that should not provide you with assurance. You ought to be retested for Hep B (there are several types of serologies available that may help determine when you were infected) and be tested for HIV, both now and in 6 months.
