HIV Exposure Follow Up

Question

Thanks you for earlier consultation. I believe I received protected oral sex from woman at the end of February and I tested positive for Hepatitis B in the third week of February, after I developed symptoms of headache, vomiting etc. I took the ELISA HIV blood test at the beginning of March and it came back negative.

I am wondering whether, since I might have been exposed to Hep B and HIV at the same time, my HIV results might be wrong? Should I get tested again?

I have Hep B symptoms of pale stools only now all other symptoms have gone.

Advice 1

Ultimately, if an HIV test taken 6 months after the initial contact is negative, then you can rest easy. I would test again at least one more time; perhaps a negative test at the 3 month mark will let you sleep better. Good luck.

Advice 2

You do not need to repeat the HIV test. I would feel comfortable that it is indeed negative.

Advice 3

Given the ELISA testing, it is extremely unlikely you have contracted HIV.
